“SoCo Studio is The Place !!!” We had a wonderful stay with Jana. She and Barkley(her precious dog) offered a comfortable, clean and amazing stay ! The backyard and deck area were fantastic! The shower was amazing(better than mine at home) and the fluffy towels were great! The studio is close to everything. Thanks Jana for the amazing stay and being such a lovely host !
Founded in a curve of the Colorado River in 1839, Austin, TX owes most of its ensuing growth to the University of Texas, established here in 1883. Janis Joplin and Willie Nelson both launched their careers in the independent music venues of Austin, and up-and-coming musicians follow in their footsteps every year. Austin is rapidly becoming known for its vibrant music scene influenced by indie rock, Latin rhythms, jazz, ska, Texas country, and more. The free creative spirit and cultural mix of Austin may have arisen from a combination of University culture, southwestern heat, east coast capitalistic sensibilities, and rugged Texas adaptability, but whatever originally inspired the unique cultural flavor of this place, Austin has developed its own identity by now and the people here will let you know. Austin is proud of its contributions to music and art and its dedication to quality of life.
Here are a few things to do in and around the city:
Hike and bike the trails around Ladybird Lake: Ten miles of trails wind around Ladybird Lake in the center of downtown Austin. Stop and view the memorial to Stevie Ray Vaughn on Auditorium Shore.
McKinney Falls: View the spectacular waterfalls in the 635 acres of McKinney Falls State Park.
Play golf: Falconhead, Plum Creek, and Teravista are some of the best known golf courses in Austin.
Museums: Visit the Blanton Museum of Art and the Bob Bullock State History Museum for starters.
Live music: Don't leave the live music capital of the world without seeing a few shows. Check the performance schedules at Broken Spoke, Austin City Limits, and the Elephant Room.
The best way to fully experience Austin is to stay for a while. Find a vacation rental downtown and take in the music scene and the nightlife of a town that seems slightly and delightfully out of step with the rest of Texas. Whether you explore Austin for just a few days or rent a beautiful lakeside villa and stay for the entire summer, be sure you make the most of your visit. By the time you leave, you may already be planning a return trip.

Central Austin Luxury Cottage - Close to Downtown!
Beautiful house
Location was nice...close to UT and the conference that I attended. Love the grill and TV in the backyard and the spacious living room with huge TV. The bed was very comfortable (I slept in the master bedroom) and the huge shower was nice. It would stay here again next time I'm in Austin. …

South Austin Apartment - Close To Everything!
Good location, nice house, well equipped
25 minute walk to downtown, bedrooms and bathrooms ideal for week away. Kitchen well equipped. Slight disappointment was sofa in living room - not great condition, leather peeling off but we found a throw in a cupboard to cover up the damage so we could sit on it. Also outside area not really usable - didn't mind the leaves as this can't be avoided but weeds everywhere and untidy so not pleasant to sit out. Could be a nice spot if tidied up. All in all great trip to Austin though and would stay again. …

IDEAL SOCIAL DISTANCING SPOT Charming Cottage Great Downtown Location
Keen Cozy Cottage
Small, but clean, nicely furnished two bedroom-one bath cottage. Plenty of room for our two dogs, my wife and I for our ten day stay. Interesting re-model of a sixty-plus year old house. Small, but complete fenced yard allowed our dogs to get around unleashed. We were fascinated by the vaulted ceiling of the main room with old windows into the enclosed attic above the bedrooms.
Modern AC (good thermostat control), plumbing and appliances. Well provisioned with linens, towels, soap, kitchen supplies and even toothpaste! Washer & dryer in a attached room was not as inconvenient as it might sound. Off-street parking was a plus because Waterston is a narrow, but well traveled street. Three great restaurants about two blocks away have limited parking so patrons park along the street. In addition to the three restaurants (Cipollina, Josephines and Jefferys) at the end of Waterston, several others near by plus a great coffee shop (Medici) within easy walking distance of the cottage. The neighborhood is a great place to walk - even without the company of dogs. Nearby Clarksville park has a great open space (not leash-free, but it had a convenient dog station)
Modern high speed wifi and a Vizio smart TV that only had Direct TV, but access to Netflix and Amazon Prime (for members). Perfect place for a small family, an older couple with pet(s) or romantic get away for those who looking for that sort of place.
Great property manager accommodated all our needs despite a little hiccup during the reservation process - something beyond his control, but things worked out for the best. Only negative was the weather - unusually rainy for Austin in September which inspired the mosquitos, but a little spray and repellant kept them at bay. …
